Plantation babes
By Jigs Arquiza

LOTS of water, lots of sand, lots of sun. With its man-made lagoon and beach and the warm tropical sun shining above, Plantation Bay Resort and Spa would be a perfect setting for a James Bond movie. Of course, a James Bond movie would not be complete without beautiful women as part of the scenery.

In this, Plantation Bay does the job wonderfully, boasting of not one, but two beautiful women from the land of Sputnik, Stolichnaya and Scharapova.

These two aren’t just eye candy, though. Beautiful scenery aside, Julia and Olga complete Plantation Bay’s casting call for world-class personnel. No, they won’t be portraying SMERSH Sparrows intent on seducing Her Majesty’s favorite secret agent, though they can definitely do so without even trying. The two stunners have their own respective jobs at the resort, and they’ve got nothing to do with espionage at all, though if James Bond ever finds himself in Plantation Bay, he’s definitely bound to find himself shaken and stirred.

The Vixen from Vietnam

With her smoldering gaze, Julia Bubnova can be called the Paris Hilton of Plantation Bay, and she can actually give the celebrity quite a run for the money in the looks department. Born in Ho Chi Minh City in South Vietnam and educated in Australia, she spent two years as a Food and Beverage coordinator at the Hanoi Daewoo Hotel in Vietnam before coming to the Philippines seeking new experiences in Hotel Management.

The account executive in charge of the European Market, Julia has a mission, and it is to get Europeans, mostly Russians, to come and experience the facilities and features of Plantation Bay. According to her, she loves her job because it allows her to meet plenty of new people and share new experiences. Aside from going to the gym, Julia also admits to an interest in designing clothes. She lists Russian, English and Vietnamese among the languages she speaks, at the same time, she is also working on perfecting her Mandarin and Cantonese.

Julia proudly confesses that her dad is her idol, the person she has looked up to all her life, and that for her, though things can be a bit difficult sometimes, “Nothing is impossible!”

From Russia With Love

Filipinos can probably take a cue from guest services officer Olga Komissarova. A graduate of the Moscow State University, she majored in Tagalog and spent three months at U.P. Diliman for further instruction in our national language. Because of this, she speaks very fluent Filipino, even better than some of our countrymen. Aside from Filipino and her native Russian and Ukrainian, Olga also speaks English and Spanish.

A journalist of sorts, she has contributed numerous articles for Voyage, a travel magazine in Moscow. While still in school, she was the head of the Trade Union Committee, which coordinates with various agencies in Russia to provide benefits to the students studying at the university.

During a trade fair in Moscow, at the invitation of Plantation Bay GM Efren Belarmino, Olga jumped at the chance to work here, as she relates, “I fell in love with the Philippines when I first visited the country!” She lists the Banaue Rice Terraces, Boracay, chicken adobo, lechon and chicharon as her favorite Filipino things. Of course, it goes without saying that she also loves the Filipino people, although she still finds it awkward when people stare at her while she’s walking down the street.
