2 PRO 7 officials get awards

LOCAL chief executives weren’t the only ones awarded for the success of the 12th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) summit.

Two police officials were recipients of the Presidential Medal of Merit while all the police officers who participated in the summit security will be given a presidential citation badge for their efforts.

Chief Supt. Ronald Roderos, deputy regional director for administration, received the medals and awards in behalf of the Philippine National Police (PNP) at Malacañang Palace last Aug. 14.

Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Silverio Alarcio Jr. and former deputy regional director for operations, Senior Supt. Lani-o Nerez, were awarded the Presidential Medal of Merit.

“For reliable and professional contributions in the performance of various tasks for the preparations and actual hosting of the 12th Asean Summit and its related meetings;

Support

“For invaluable support, active role and commendable participation in the Philippines’ chairmanship of the Asean standing committee, thereby contributing to its success,” the award stated.

The order of Lakandula was also awarded to Deputy Director General Avelino Razon Jr.

A presidential citation was awarded to the Department of Interior and Local Government and the PNP, which Roderos received because there was no other representative.

Camp Crame

Roderos said the awards are now with the Directorate for Personnel Resource Management at Camp Crame.

He added that the department will be the one to issue the citation badge to all officers concerned.

Alarcio said there were around 10,000 members of the Task Force Asean.

Aside from local police officers, there were field trainees and additional personnel from national units augmenting the existing forces of Cebu six months before the summit. (MEA)
