Korean cops want liaison office set up

OFFICIALS from the Chungnam Provincial Police Agency (CPPA) want to put up a liaison office at the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 to cater to Korean citizens who are here.

PRO 7 Director Silverio Alarcio Jr. said this was one of the things they agreed on with their counterparts in Chungnam Province, in Korea, during their goodwill visit early this month.

He said this was because there were many Koreans in Central Visayas. There were also incidents wherein the parties fighting were all Korean.

Alarcio also said their Korean counterparts expressed their interest in helping the PRO 7 upgrade their capabilities in law enforcement.

Alarcio said that as far as abilities were concerned, they were in the same level.

But the Korean police officers had many advantages because they were well-equipped with resources, he said.

A nine-member delegation from the PRO 7 met officials of the CPPA at their headquarters in Daejon Metropolitan City headed by commissioner, Senior Superintendent General Cho Yong-yeon.

Alarcio cited their use of surveillance cameras covering all corners helped them spot violators easily.

Urinate

During their visit to the police station, they witnessed a man who urinated at the side of the street and was immediately apprehended after the base station immediately dispatched a police car to the area.

All their computers were connected, making the flow of communication easier and quicker.

Alarcio also noted that the commissioner held a session called “morning coffee” everyday wherein he has an online conference with all his officers to discuss their affairs. Their public affairs office is also separate from the police station and has a “hotel-like” structure. (MEA)
