TO cope with the mushrooming of information technology-related companies in Cebu, a newly established real estate company will build a 16-story commercial and business center at the Mandaue City south reclamation area.
Cebu-based Robinland Inc. held the groundbreaking of the site of Robinland Business Center on Zuellig Avenue at the Mandaue City south reclamation area last Saturday.
“This is designed to be a landmark building,” said Robinland Inc. business development manager Wilfredo Sa-a Jr., adding that the company has tapped the services of architect Tessie Javier of TP Javier Architects and Associates for the building design.
TP Javier and Associates designed the P3-billion five-star Imperial Palace Waterpark Resort and Spa that is being developed in Lapu-Lapu City.
Commercial, IT
Sa-a said the first four floors of the building will be allotted to commercial spaces while the rest of the building will cater to information technology (IT) locators.
The building will have a lot area of 2,500 square meters and a floor area of a “little more than” 1,000 square meters.
Apart from ample parking space, the building’s surroundings will also be fully landscaped, Sa-a said.
He said the project’s initial capital investment is estimated at P300 million, including vertical and horizontal developments.
Rental for office space will range from P400 to P600 per square meter a month, he said.
Completion of the business center is set in the middle of 2008 as the foundations of the building are now being constructed.
Peza accreditation
In an interview with reporters, Sa-a said the company has started working on acquiring an IT building accreditation from the Philippine Economic Zone Authority.
“We’re now waiting for the final plans,” he added.
He said the new IT building will be an added feature within the Mandaue reclamation area, along with famous structures like the Cebu International Convention Center and the Cebu Doctors’ University.
Other big ticket developments in the area include the Cebu Boardwalk and Parkmall@168.
Sa-a also said Robinland is considering on having an “experimental venture” for a retirement village in the southern part of Cebu.
The company owns a 7,000-square meter lot “overlooking the South Road Properties,” he said. (MMM)
