Thursday, August 30, 2007 Special non-working holiday in Mandaue today
IT WILL be a special non-working holiday in Mandaue City today, as the City celebrates its 38th charter day anniversary.
According to Mayor Jonas Cortes, President Arroyo issued the declaration yesterday under Proclamation 1366.
The mayor made the announcement after he received the President’s message before lunch.
On June 21, 1969 then president Ferdinand E. Marcos approved the charter of Mandaue or Republic Act 5519.
Then later that year on Aug. 6, the president signed Proclamation 586 designating Aug. 30 as the date for the formal organization of the Mandaue City Government.
The City will host a fellowship dinner tonight at the Cebu International Convention Center. (OCP)
