Business chamber prepares for trade mission to Russia

THE Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and the Cebu Consulate of the Russian Federation are preparing to conduct a trade mission to Russia on Sept. 20 to 29.

The CCCI and the Russian Federation Consulate in Cebu will be leading the delegation to explore a wide range of trade and investment opportunities.

The delegation will travel to Moscow and St. Petersburg and may visit other locations depending on the interests of its members.

The mission aims to strengthen trade ties, source suitable business partners, and promote investments and joint ventures between the Russia and Cebu. It will also offer an opportunity for participants to obtain a better understanding of the business environment in Russia.

The visit will provide an excellent opportunity to introduce the Cebu delegation to Russian business people at the highest level and to support some of them who have already established a foothold in the market.

Untapped potential

The Russian market is growing fast and holds much untapped potential and hopefully the upcoming mission will help businessmen in Cebu enter the market or to build on their existing market presence there.

In addition to the business component of the nine-day visit, the delegation plans to meet ministers and officials in the Russian Federation to discuss economic links and to promote Philippine goods and services.

The delegation also plans to have one-to-one business meetings with Russian companies with matching business interests. Delegates also plan to visit industrial plants in Russia.

The delegation will also have meetings with the Chambers of Commerce, counterpart trade associations and relevant government authorities.

Cebuano businessmen are also interested in discussing bilateral goods market access with Russian trade players as part of Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Russia’s membership to the WTO is expected to encourage the development of closer economic links between Russia and the Philippines.

The Embassy of the Philippines in Moscow and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation has confirmed full cooperation to make the mission a success.(PR)
