Metaphil to invest P500M

THE construction arm of the Aboitiz Group will begin development of a world-class modular fabrication facility in Balamban, Cebu in the last quarter of this year.

The facility, projected to cost P500 million, will sit on a seven- to eight-hectare property that will also be the site of a loading pier and yard.

The facility is Metaphil Interna-tional’s response to the growing demand for fabricated modular structures by the international market, said company president and chief operating officer Napoleon Pe Jr.

“Modular fabricated facilities are already the new trend in construction,” he told Sun.Star Cebu in an interview at their office in Tipolo, Mandaue.

Metaphil has clients from all over the world, including Australia, Vietnam, Germany, Indonesia, Thailand and China.

Fabricated modules will make construction work convenient and easier since “igo naman lang na nila ita-od,” Pe said. (They just affix it.)

He said fabricated modules save time and money for construction companies.

Pe said international demand for such structures would remain strong more than five years from now.

He said that since Metaphil’s prices are “very competitive,” the company would be able to attract plenty of clients.

Pe said the property in Balamban will be able to accommodate future expansion of the company.

He said plans for the facility have been in the pipeline for some time but site development delayed the project’s implementation.

Pe said the facility aims to produce 1,500 tons to 2,000 tons of fabricating steel a month.

When the facility becomes operational, he said Metaphil will hire 1,000 to 1,500 people.

The company will be hiring locals because the company wants to “serve the area where the shop is located,” Pe said. (TEP)
