Plexi’s feat

PLEXIBOND annexed the first-ever title of the fledgling United Architects Basketball Club following a 78-69 bashing of Roofgard last Sunday at the City Sports Club Cebu gym.

On the other hand, Acrytex nabbed the third place trophy with a 79-68 domination over the listless Decore in the battle for third.

Elmo Ubanan was relentless from both ends of the court as he registered 33 points on top of seven rebounds, a steal and five shot blocks to earn the Finals MVP title.

Ubanan carried Plexibond to victory with the help of Francis Dumadag, who chipped in 23 points and five boards.

With Roofgard and leading best player of the conference, Criz Matunog, checked by the defense of Plexibond and hounded by early foul trouble, Genaro Bejo, Paolo Alberto and Chad Go tried to stage a come back in the final quarter.

However, Ubanan blocked their efforts in both offense and defense.

Meanwhile, without center Ryan Cabanlit, point guard James Nazareno and John Sulay, Decore found it hard to put up a decent fight and settled for fourth.

Acrytex (70) – Sesbreño 24, Vidal 17, Basallo 10, Emboy 7, Pepito 7, Gelig 6, Abellana 4, Daquipil 4. Decore (68) – Laguna 26, Choachuy 17, Ong 10, Suico 7, Bordador 4, Lim 4. Quarters: 23-16; 38-28; 59-50; 79-68. Plexibond (78) – Ubanan 33, Dumadag 23, Matunog 10, Osmeña 4, Sanchez 4, Baguio 2, Peneranda 2. Roofgard(69) – Bejo 26, Go 15, Jugalbot 12, Mag-aso 7, Abella 4, Alberto 3, Bari 2. Quarters: 21-12; 46-27; 63-39; 78-69. (RCM)
