‘All other corrupt officials should be jailed too’

FROM students to vendors to jeepney drivers, everybody seems to have a word or two about how the Erap trial should have proceeded and ended. Rightly so. The ‘Erap trial’ is a story about politics, family, friendship, betrayal and revenge — elements that make Pinoy movies click.

Jasmine, student

Johan, student

“He should be in jail like other prisoners kay unfair man pud sa uban. Daghan man sa government ba so sila tanan, dapat ma-priso pud.

Randy, jeepney driver

“Da, sad-an siya o dili, wa nay bali namo.

Terence Lanzado, worker at the Palace of Justice
“Wala, deadma lang ko.”

Ryan Gador, Palace of Justice worker

“Mayra niya.”

Miralyn Basaca, staff of Mandaue City Vice Mayor Carlo Pontico Fortuna

“Para nako, he deserves the judgment. It was already obvious during the Senate hearings that he committed the crime. The conviction, however, will diminish the foreigners’ trust in our officials.”

Imelda Cañamo, Mandaue City Hall clerk

“He deserves being imprisoned for life. What he did has definitely affected our country. Para nako, wa na tay paglaum.”

Senior Insp. Kasuagi Ladjarani, chief of police of Simunul Island, Tawi-Tawi

“Let justice prevail. Kung ako lang, I cannot believe (that he did it). Pero hindi naman tayo ang humahawak ng kaso and we do not know the background. May batas tayong kailangang panindigan.”

Eliseo Dionaldo, 58, mango vendor since 1970

Wala nalang untay kagubot. Unta masulbad na.”

Rosell Bonghanoy, fried chicken vendor

“Uyon ta ana nga sad-an siya.
