Thursday, September 13, 2007 Ateneo-La Salle renew golf rivarly at CCC
THE 6th annual Ateneo--La Salle Golf Classic kicks off on Sept. 19-20 at the Cebu Country Club.
The awarding ceremony, backed by Pagcor, will be on Sept. 20 at the Teatro Casino Filipino.
The two rival schools carry on their rivalry with Ateneo, which is this year’s host, gunning for its second consecutive perpetual trophy after winning its first in 2004.
La Salle will try to reverse the trend by bringing in their top golfers from Manila and Bacolod. A team wins a perpetual trophy if it wins in three consecutive years.
The golf tournament is open to all golfers, male or female who have studied in any of the Jesuit or Christian Brothers’ schools worldwide. There will be four classes; three classes based on official handicaps plus an open category for those without official handicaps using the system 36 format.
There will be four winners per category with the gross winner garnering 10 points for his or her team, the best net score gets eight points, the runnerup gets five and the second runnerup gets two points. (PR)
