Flavors of Penang

PENANG is known to be Malaysia’s food paradise, where people from all cultures find their favorite, be it fine dining or hawker fare. Its culinary influence runs the gamut of Malay, Chinese and Indian.

The journey to the culinary capital of Penang is not too far. Experience the Flavors of Penang at Tides restaurant in Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu from Sept. 18-25 only.

A team of chefs from Traders Hotel, Penang will transform Tides restaurant into an even more thrilling dining experience with live action cooking, creative presentations and an authentic teh tarik performance by Traders Hotel, Penang’s teh tarik champion, Sharizan Saaban.

Teh tarik, literally meaning “pulled tea,” has been unofficially called the “national drink of Malaysia.” The drink is prepared by pouring a mixture of hot tea and condensed milk into another container with outstretched arms.

The higher the pouring, the thicker the froth. This action cools down the tea to an optimum temperature for consumption.

Taste the authentic flavors on offer, with classic dishes such as rojak, laksa, Penang Hokkien prawn mee, roti jala and roti canai, oyster omelette, beef rendang mamak, kari ikan, and many more.

For restaurant reservations, one may call (63 32) 231 8224, or e-mail mac@shangri-la.com.
