Judgement day

THE University of Cebu Lady Webmasters will try to protect their throne in the women’s division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. when it faces perennial nemesis University of San Carlos Lady Warriors in today’s championship match at the USC gym.

The game is slated at 4:30 p.m. before an equally important game in the juniors division scheduled at 6 p.m.

The winner in the women’s match will form the core of the team that will represent Cebu in the regional meet of the Private Schools Athletic Association.

The University of the Visayas Baby Green Lancers will also try to keep their title bid alive when it takes on the University of San Jose-Recoletos Baby Jaguars in a winner-take-all-quarterfinal match.

The Baby Jaguars managed to extend the quarterfinal round to today’s playoffs when they bashed the twice-to-beat Baby Lancers in their first outing last Saturday.

USJ-R will once more lean on the heroics of Clint Munez and Xyl Ponsica in their crucial match today. The duo carried the Jaguars to victory last Saturday with end game heroics.

Fortune

With this, the Baby Lancers, last year’s finalists, which have been trying to keep their heads above the water all season long, will hope to end the Jaguars good fortune today to snag the last semifinals slot of the juniors division

The winner in today’s game will face the University of San Carlos in the semifinals.

This is the first time in the history of Cesafi that the USC Baby Warriors finished on top after the elimination round. The Warriors also enjoyed a bye in the quarters and are just waiting whom to face in the semis. The other semifinals match up is between the defending champion University of Cebu Baby Webmasters and University of Southern Philippines Baby Panthers. (MCB)
