THE Confederation of Philippine Exporters (Philexport) Cebu has shortlisted 31 export consultants who will be trained by Netherland's Center for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI).
The Philexport-CBI Export Marketing and Management is a four week program which will begin next month. It is designed to enhance the global competitiveness of local exporters and enable them to penetrate the elusive European market, said Philexport Cebu executive director Fred Escalona.
"We need to build a ready pool of regional trainers or consultants who can provide advisory services and practical skills to Philexport Cebu members," he told Sun.Star Cebu.
He said the consultants will spend three weeks of their training in Cebu and later on in Rotterdam, Netherlands where they will have the opportunity to interact with key industry players.
As part of the integrated program, a Specialist Training Course for professional trainers and consultants will be organized from October 2007 until February 2008.
Escalona said trainings and seminars like these are vital to enhance the knowledge and skills of exporters in Cebu, especially since the industry is suffering from problems like the strengthening of the peso that decreased demand for local exports abroad. (MMM)
