Grader wins regional read-a-thon

A GRADE four pupil from Lahug Elementary School of the Department of Education, Cebu City Division won first place in the Regional Read-a-thon contest recently.

Joanne Pilapil, who vied in the Best Story Telling category, received a trophy and a certificate.

Her coach, Mildred Arcillo, received a certificate of recognition.

Pilapil qualified for the National Read-a-thon contest which is being held at the Bayview Park Hotel in Ermita, Manila.

Another grade four pupil Shawn Brett Coronel of Inawayan Elementary School won second place in the Vocabulary category.

His coach Clavel Morales also received a certificate of recognition.

The two winners were the champions in the Division Read-a-thon organized by Education Supervisor I Marcelita Dignos and had competed with contestants from public elementary schools in Central Visayas.

Qualifiers

The other national qualifiers are Talisay City Division’s Mary Rose Ampoon, Tasha Bester Cabrera and Yvonne Fe Baguio for the Best Team Readers, with Leslie Lucernas as their coach.

The list also includes Bohol Division’s Sharlene Rhea Bernaldez for Best in Oral Interpretation, with Catherine Bautista as her coach and Dumaguete Division’s Michael Angelo Circulado for the Best in Vocabulary with Filipina Aranas as her coach.
