CCPO doesn’t want erring cops in city

SENIOR Supt. Patroci-nio Comendador will ask the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 not to assign 10 policemen with records back to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

The policemen, three of them operatives of the disbanded Vice Control Section (VCS), were recalled from their posts in the Bohol after the PRO 7 learned that Camp Crame has a directive banning policemen with derogatory records from being transferred.

SPO1 Jaime Otadoy, PO2 Rey Albotra and PO1 Raniel Capangpangan, who are facing extortion charges, were among the 10 CCPO policemen who were relieved and transferred to Bohol last Sept. 7.

Assignments

Because of the Camp Crame directive, the policemen are going back to their assignments at the CCPO and the Regional Mobile Group.

Otadoy, Albotra and Capangpangan are serving a 60-day suspension.

Comendador said returning the 10 policemen to CCPO is counterproductive to the efforts of the PNP to clear its image.

Comendador said it will send a “wrong message that we don’t mean business here.”

The CCPO has organized the Cebu City Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Force to prevent a similar incident.

Meanwhile, Comen-dador is grateful to Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña’s support in providing legal assistance to policemen facing counter-charges as a result of their operations.

He said Osmeña’s support will will motivate the policemen.

Comendador, in an earlier interview, said that since January, at least five charges were filed against the city’s police operatives. They were accused of planting evidence against the arrested suspects. (JST)
