Bank building burglarized

THIEVES broke into the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI)-Regional Training center along General Maxilom Ave. at the North Reclamation Area and ran off with an IBM laptop worth P80,000 and a projector worth P60,000.

The center is located at the second level of the two-story BPI building. The center has a separate entrance door from that of the bank that is holding office at the ground floor, Theft and Robbery Section (TRS) investigator Genilo Veraque said.

The bank, he said, did not lose any cash or valuables to the thieves.

Veraque, the investigator of the case, said there could one or two people who pulled the crime.

He said the incident may have been committed over the weekend. The burglary was discovered at past 7 a.m. yesterday.

The building has no security guard during Saturdays and Sundays, Veraque said.

An inspection conducted by the TRS on the building showed that the burglars entered the training center by scaling the building, pushing aside an air-conditioning unit and crawling through the hole.

Veraque said the burglars then took the laptop and the projector from a table. They retraced their way out of the building. (JST)
