Chief doubts gambling ended, demands more action in towns
CEBU Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Director Carmelo Valmoria finds it hard to believe that masiao and video carrera machine operations have been eradicated in the province.
This is why he has directed his officers to intensify operations against illegal gambling, said Supt. Erson Digal, deputy provincial director for operations.
Digal told reporters that during their staff conference last Monday, Valmoria noted the operations on illegal gambling were limited to those caught in the act of playing card and coin games. If there were any operations on illegal cockfights, no one is arrested because the bettors all “scamper to safety.”
Valmoria told his officers to inform chiefs of police to intensify operations on illegal gambling.
Acting on his orders, the Provincial Intelligence Branch and the Special Reaction Unit conducted simultaneous raids in Barangays Poblacion and Cawayan.
With a warrant issued by Judge Maximo Perez of the Regional Trial Court in Argao, Insp. Wilfredo Pulvera and Insp. Bajie Fajardo proceeded to the town.
