Saturday, September 29, 2007 Dancesport sa Sugbo winners to represent city
THREE-time gold medal winners in the recently-concluded Dancesport sa Sugbo will head the pack of Cebuanos in the 11th Dancesport Council of the Philippines National Championship next month at the Philsports Arena.
Anselmo Estillore and Mae Lozada swept the titles in the events they joined in during the Dancesport sa Sugbo. The pair won in the Latin Adult C, Latin special event 1F and Latin special event 1M, where they outclassed other competitors. They will try to extend their winning ways when they take part in the Latin dances in grades C and B events next month.
Junior athletes
Fresh off a successful stint in last Saturday’s international event, the city’s junior dancesport athletes will also be competing in the nationals, the culminating competition of the year.
Eo Lown Rendon and Mary Desiree Seraga will be competing in the standard youth A and Latin youth A, where they will go up against fellow multi-titled teammates Inoue Roi Rendon and Christy Kim Velez.
Cebu City will be sending 27 pairs to this year’s national finals. Most of the pair were medalists in their respective bids last weekend.
Expected to lift the Cebuanos’ banner are Joel and Anabelle Madera in the standard Grade A event; Bernie Tumarong and Miljane Camacho, Jimmy Noel with his partners Eleanor Hayco in the Latin SE and 2F; and Karla Fornolles in Latin Grade A and Renate Saldua and Victoria Alix.
Apart from their respective individual bids, the Cebuanos are also hoping to continue their dominance in the national dancesport scene. In the past, the team dominated and kept winning the overall title, whether it sends a large or small delegation.
The other pairings are Carlo Taburnal and Louvimor Rizardo, Bjord Torreon and Lenibelle Padillo and Maria Theresa Tan, Zjiane Troy and Tracy Villarta, Danilo Almario and Kinue Sakurai, Wilbert Aunzo and Pearl Cañeda, Lloyd Batolini and Eleanor Hayco, Batolini and Charlene Virlouvet, Rodulfo Beltran and Gemville Dela Cerna, Romeo Cialbo and Hanna Diluvio and Lilibeth Paguio, Christopher Corro and Fornolles, Kelly Jay Deluvio and Diana Silud.
