Cebu City PNP chief appointed

AFTER serving the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) in an acting capacity for seven months, Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador has been appointed as the permanent director, a memorandum order from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 revealed.

According to the memorandum order dated July 16, the PRO 7 has terminated the designation of Comendador as the acting director of CCPO and appointed him to occupy the post as the new city director.

Comendador’s designation took effect on July 5.

The order was signed by Senior Supt. Alex Castro, chief of the Personnel and Human Resource and Doctrine Division, and Senior Supt. Arnulfo Perez, Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 directorial staff chief.

Crime drop

Comendador, in an interview with reporters yesterday, said he would like to sustain the drop in crime statistics and maintain the reputation of Cebu City as a safe place to live in.

Since July, Comendador said he has implemented several measures such as the creation of the Cebu City Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Force, centralization of beat patrol policemen under the supervision of the CCPO’s operations section and the night watch patrol.

Comendador was assigned to the city police office last January.

He replaced Supt. Melvin Gayotin, who held the post in an acting capacity for more than two years. (JST)
