UC faces USPF in Milo semifinals

AFTER figuring in a three-way logjam during the elimination round of the paserelle division of the Milo Basketball Efficiency and Scientific Training basketball tournament, only the two teams with superior quotients advanced to the semifinal round today.

University of Cebu, Don Bosco College and University of San Carlos South Campus were tied with 3-1 win-loss records after the elimination round.

To break the tie, organizers resorted to the quotient system of Fiba, the international governing body for basketball.

In the end, UC and DBC came up with 1.102041 and .9489 quotients to take the top two spots, while booting USC SC out of contention.

Today, UC pits skills with the second top team of bracket B, University of Southern Philippines Foundation in today’s second game at the Capitol Parish Gym.

It will follow the game in the small basketeers of the Philippines (SBP) division between Sacred Heart School Jesuits and USC SC in the 8:30 a.m. curtain raiser.

SHSJ is the top team in the SBP class, having won all four of its assignments for the elimination round, while USC SC is the number 4 team in the other bracket.

The semifinals continue tomorrow at the USPF Lahug gymnasium. The championship round will be on Oct. 13 at the Capitol Parish Gym.

The winners in both classes will represent Cebu in the regional finals, before the national competition. (MCB)
