Webmasters Jr. roll to championship

THE University of Cebu Baby Webmasters barged into the championship round of the Milo Best Cebu eliminations after pulling off a lopsided 83-50 win over the hapless University of Southern Philippines Foundation in their semifinal encounter yesterday at the Capitol Parish Gym.

The Webmasters wan-ted to get hold of that championship trophy fast and opened its bid with a 24-9 streak in the first canto, which had virtually set the stage for their win.

A fresh batch of players in the second period did not help the Panthers at all as it still continued to suffer with UC’s scoring splurge, where they padded their lead, 45-16.

It was a concerted effort for the Webmasters as all of them contributed to the scoring. With the ball constantly changing hand, it was only Roger Pogoy, who scored in double digits, as he scattered 10 points for the team.

UC will now wait for its opponent in the finals, which is slated next weekend at the same venue. It will be pitting skills with whoever wins between Sacred Heart School-Jesuits and Don Bosco College Greywolves, which will play in their semis
match up today at the USPF gym in Lahug.

Meanwhile, SHS-J’s younger team advanced to the final round of the Small Basketeers of the Philippines after defeating San Carlos South Campus, 64-37.

Adrian Muller topped the SHS-J scorers with 14 markers.

The winner between USC North Campus and Don Bosco College will be SHS-J’s opponent in the SBP finals. The winners in the Cebu eliminations will represent Cebu in the regionals.

UC (83)—Pogoy 10, Ampoon 9, Palileo 9, Labolabo 8, Nijaga 8, Tindoy 8, Vence 7, Castro 6, Taboada 4, Ybanez 2, Bayno 2, Coca 1, Caballero 1. USP (50)—Nudalo 17, Salazar 10, Lambujon 8, Escanilla 6, Panaong 2, Navarro 2, Cosido 2, Metante 2, Silao 1. (MCB)
