Man refuses to give phone, shot in foot

A 24-YEAR-OLD man was shot in the foot for refusing to give up his cellular phone to three men, one of them armed with a handgun, in Urgello St., Barangay Sambag I, Cebu City yesterday dawn.

Investigators from the Fuente Osmeña Police Station and Homicide Section identified the victim as Jake Mansinares. He was taken to the Chong Hua Hospital for treatment.

Information gathered by SPO1 Sidney Gomez of the Fuente Osmeña Police miscellaneous team showed that Mansinares had just gotten out of the gate of the compound where he lives when the perpetrators approached him and asked for his phone.

When he reportedly resisted, he and the perpetrators ended up grappling for it.

Mansinares shouted for help, which was heard by the compound’s security guard.

One of the perpetrators shot Mansinares’ left foot before leaving.

They left before the security guard arrived.

The perpetrators were described to be in their early 20s. (JST)
