Tuesday, October 10, 2007 Veco re-opens Talisay City office
TO enhance its customer services in the south, the Visayan Electric Co. (Veco) re-opened its office in Talisay City.
The renovated office will serve 11 percent of Veco’s customers, said company senior vice president and chief operating officer Jaime Jose Aboitiz.
The Talisay City office of Veco is expected to address the needs of the power distribution company’s 3,000 customers in Talisay, Minglanilla, Naga and San Fernando, he said.
Veco has about 285,000 customers from the industry and residential sectors in Metro Cebu. Residential customers make up 70 percent of its total market.
Veco held the blessing and inauguration of the Talisay City office last Friday.
During inauguration, Aboitiz said the renovation and re-opening of the Talisay City office will improve the company’s services.
He said the Talisay City office has been converted into a full-service facility so customers from the southern part of Metro Cebu would no longer have to go to Cebu City to pay their bills and bring up concerns with Veco.
“We need to make sure to cover all the clients’ demand,” he said.
Talisay City Mayor Soc-rates Fernandez, for his part, said that with the growing industry sector in the area, Veco’s presence is important.
In another development, Fernandez said the Talisay City Government is offering “very minimal taxes” —having decided not to increase taxes within five years—to attract more investment.
He said the low tax program has resulted in the possible entry of a two-hectare plant in Barangay Cansojong that will manufacture electric fans.
He said construction of the plant by Camel Co., owned by the Manila-based Chua family, is ongoing but the target completion of the facility has not been announced. (TEP)
