Neri: What's up? What's new?
By Nelia G. Neri

ALL set for a revival is the legendary ball of the Bachelors-Femina Club (BF) held every Dec. 28. It has been three decades or so since the traditional Innocents’ Day ball ceased to be, but now the alumni of the Bachelors-Femina Club of Cebu have come together to resurrect the glittering formal affair. Of course, the highlight will be, as was customary, the "Rigodon de Honor." Twenty four pairs of former BF members have committed to participate in the dance to be led by two pairs of Papas and Mamas: Apolinar Suarez and Rosebud Sala, and Oscar Jereza Jr. and Annie Corrales Mahrt.

Hopefully with this development, the Bachelors-Femina Club of Cebu will come to life again with new members. A prospective member has to be sponsored by an alumni of the club and he or she must be of sound moral character, at least 20 years of age for the bachelors, and at least 18 years of age for the Feminas. For more info, please get in touch with any of the alumni officers led by president Perla Agudo Peterson, tel. no. 491-3058.

By the way, there's a BF alumni dinner fellowship on Oct. 27 at the hilltop home of Mariquita Salimbangon Yeung who was active in the BF club during the 70s.

America, the 70s mellow pop-rock band, will come to Cebu on Dec. 1, in a concert dubbed “America...All My Life,” at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel. There’s a promo with a discount of more than 30 percent for “early birds” who get their tickets before Oct. 25. Call Citickets hotline at 412-4512.

The Golden Center of Cebu (for the elderly), which is based at the Mabolo Parish, will soon have a place to call its own at Andres Abellana Street in Guadalupe. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new center was held last week.

The recently launched View Deck of Monterrazas de Cebu up the hills of Guadalupe affords its visitors a breathtaking view of the city and beyond. It is the latest addition to the upscale residential development of Landco Pacific.

The newest name in al fresco dining...that’s El Viento restaurant and bar at Marco Polo Plaza Hotel Cebu. Menu is Mediterranean.

A new addition to the eating places at Banilad Town Center is Tapa King, the first branch in Cebu of the popular tapa resto. Benedict Ventures Inc. headed by its president, Honorary Romanian Consul Grand Benedicto, is on top of the establishment.
