Lahug officials hold meetings

THE bad weather did not stop Lahug Barangay Captain Mary Ann C. de los Santos and her party from visiting Sitio Drihoa, one of the 44 areas they checked on recently.

The visit, which they called “Suroy-suroy, Pulong-pulong” was aimed at finding out the residents’ concerns and problems and to look for solutions.

In a talk with the residents, De los Santos gave them an update about the “Piso mo, Eskwelahan ko” project.

He said the construction of the additional building for the Lahug Elementary School was already awarded to the winning bidder.

The school will also have a bus soon.

After her announcement, the Drihoa residents had the chance to report their problems.

They said that with the onset of the rainy season, the sitio had been experiencing problems with the drainage system.

They offered to work on it but asked for 30 sacks of cement from the barangay.

However, De los Santos agreed to give them 40 sacks to be able to work on the project better.

Calamity

The residents also raised to Councilor Jerry Cabral of the committee on sports the need for basketball rings, as well as basketballs and volleyballs.

Councilor Samuel Heron of the committee on public safety talked about what to do when there is a calamity.

Councilors Jovito Taborada Jr., Kenneth Siazar, Rickster Castañares, Muaña Empleo and Dandy Gandiongco were also present. Jeshelene T. Diolan, UP Mass Comm
