Friday, October 12, 2007 Speak out: Support for good governance By Alvin John Tan
WHAT was a simple call for attention by the business community to the government leaders of Mactan has become out of tune because Mayor Arturo Radaza and company have turned mute to the issue.
The issues involve the cleaning up of garbage, cutting of red tape, corruption in the application of business permits at City Hall, controlling traffic and relocating/housing our urban poor brothers.
Their reply was that businessman Efrain Pelaez, who complained about these, is a tax evader.
You give a broom to a person and he calls you a crook?
Morag lisod ning panghunahuna sa mayor ug sa iyang mga abogado da.
Mr. Pelaez, binisay-a kuno bay.
Tan-awa ra gud nang public market sa Opon, pwerteng hugawa.
Sukad pa kaniadto sa panahon sa among lolo ug lola, mao ra gihapon ka hugaw ug ka baho ang merkado.
Our elders may not want trouble by staying mute.
But we say that Radaza's actions only stunts Mactan’s growth and progress.
So we the youth sector of the Filipino Chinese business community, the family fraternities, and brothers, voice out our support for good governance.
