Speak out: Help needed
By Erlando L. Majan
Tesda 7 permanent employee

I AM one of the parishioners of the new parish church, the Saint Augustine de Hippo in Langtad, Naga.

The construction of the church has been going on for more than eight or nine years after the first priest administrator, Fr. Fulton Varga, left our parish.

Rev. Fr. Willie Castillo succeeded Fr. Varga, and then Fr. Flory Tonde became our first parish priest after our church was declared this year as one parish.

During the term of Fr. Castillo, I was asked to paint the 16 episodes of the Via Crucis or Way of the Cross.

The painting was done in oil and displayed inside our church.

I worked on it for free and with meager donations trickling each week until it was completed after four or five months.

The sixteen oil paintings were hung without a frame, but some of them were later taken down and kept in a place susceptible to dust, dirt and heat, like those hanging Christmas lanterns ready to be brought down by the wind.

Our parish has only few donors and benefactors and is spending the contributions it receives to the ongoing construction of the church.

May I therefore ask the public, particularly religious groups or any Good Samaritan in the city and province of Cebu, to help us in procuring frames for 16 oil paintings (two feet in height and three feet in width).

Two shops pegged the price of each frame at P700 to P900.

But the price can be lowered to around P500 if we buy instead wood molder and other materials to fix a frame.

Please send your donations to our parish priest, Fr. Tonde, at the abovementioned address.

If you cannot come up with a direct donations, you can commission me to paint portraits in oil or any painting genre at a fixed amount of P6,000 (two feet and three or any size desired by art buyers and art collectors).

Half of the amount you pay will be used for the frames of the 16 church paintings mentioned earlier and the other half will be used to buy materials to be used in painting and other maintenance.

My phone number is 232-292 (Tesda 7)

May God bless the Good Samaritans and shower them with more grace and abundance in their life.
