THE CEBU Landmasters-Mandaue City continued its winning ways, notching its sixth win in seven outings after beating the Goldstar Hardware-Duterte Agilas-Davao, 83-72, at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex Thursday night.
The victory gave the Landmasters a strong hold at the top of the tournament standings and handed the Agilas scoreless in five starts.
Just like the way they played hard for the past seven games, the Landmasters banked on a fourth quarter explosion to squash the remaining resistance of the visiting team.
Down 41-47 at the half, the Agilas forged a strong comeback behind Wynsjohn Te and Jonjon Gonzaga to even the game at 59-all at the start of the final period.
That, however, was the best part of the Agilas’ offense as the Landmasters exploded with 24 points while holding the opponent to just 13 markers to seal the game.
The performance of the Agilas, however, was far better than when they showed when they lost to the Landmasters last Oct. 5, 60-87, in their homecourt in the Almendras Gym in Davao City.
As of press time last night, the Agilas were shooting for their first ever win against the Arthro Kontra Arthritis at the Cebu Coliseum.
Harold Santa Cruz topped the Landmaster with his personal high of 16 points, while Mark Yee added 13 points. Eleazar Berami led the Agilas with 18 points.
