THE coffee shop business will experience tremendous growth as the business process outsour-cing (BPO) industry in Cebu continues to expand.
Two to three years from now, the coffee industry will grow about 100 percent with the rise of call centers, said Kristelle Lynne Ong of Bo’s Coffee Asiatown IT (information technology) Park.
She said the coffee shop business is expected to grow further with the establishment of more BPO firms and support services, including a hotel, at the Asiatown IT Park in Cebu City.
The development will also encourage more competition, said Ong during a press conference last Friday.
She said, though, that only 20 percent of its customers belong to the BPO sector.
Bo’s Coffee Asiatown IT Park is a franchised outlet owned by the Bean Teasers Club Inc.
Ong said when Bean Teasers Club decided to open the franchised outlet at Asiatown in 2005, its main target are BPO personnel. At that time, there were fewer IT companies at the park, she added.
Lourie Antonettee Yap said Bean Teasers took the risk then, believing in the site’s potentials. (TEP)
