P800T lost in Tisa fire

AN estimated P800, 000 worth of property were destroyed in a fire that hit Barangay Tisa in Cebu City last Monday night.

Except for minor injuries suffered by some of the residents while trying to save their valuables, no fatality was reported in the incident.

The fire, though, razed 13 houses and damaged two others, based on the initial investigation conducted by FO3 Antonio Gonzales, the duty investigator during the incident.

Light materials

The call for assistance was received at 9:21 p.m. and was immediately raised to third alarm status, considering that most of the houses razed by the fire were made of light materials.

The fire reportedly started at the house of Emmanuel Duran. It was believed to have been caused by an unattended lighted candle or a kerosene lamp.

Candles

Duran reportedly has no electric connection in the house, and the family used either candles or kerosene lamp at night.

When the incident occurred, it was only Duran and his child who were left in the house because his wife was reportedly in Manila.

One Jelly Ivy Napolis, 25, a resident, was taken to a hospital after she complained of difficulty in breathing during the incident.

The fire department will invite Duran to help in the investigation. (JST)
