Jaca faces Migayi again in November

THE much-awaited rematch between WBO Asia-Pacific super featherweight champion Jimrex Jaca and Japanese power puncher Ryu Migayi will be the main attraction of the WBC 45th Annual Convention which will be held in Manila on Nov. 11-17.

The card, which is promoted by Manny Pacquiao-owned MP Promotions, will also feature three Philippine championships and a Philippine Boxing Federation title match.

Also scheduled to fight in the card are the two Filipino sparring partners of Manny Pacquiao, super featherweight Aaron Melgarejo and welterweight Arnel Tinampay. The two sparred with Pacquiao while he was still training at the RWS Gym last September.

The first meeting of Jaca and Miyagi ended in a technical draw when the cut on Jaca’s eyebrows worsened at the 2:17 mark of the second round last Aug. 25 at the SM Mall of Asia.

It was an anti-climactic ending of the card which was highlighted with three knock downs in the first round.

Jaca found himself on the canvas twice, while Miyagi was downed once. Jaca is carrying a 28-3-2, 13KOs while Miyagi is sporting a 16-1-3, 12KOs.

In the other fights, RP 130-lb. champion Dodie Boy Agrabio (8-4-1) will put his belt in the line against Melgarejo (10-5-1, 3KOs), while Dondon Sultan (15-8-2, 7KOs) will try to reclaim his RP welterweight belt against Tinampay (6-7-1, 2KOs).

Jake Verano (19-9-2, 9KOs) will also defend his RP super bantamweight title against Jun Talape (14-5, 6 KOs).

Balweg Bangoyan (2-0) and Cris Bermanus (1-7) will also dispute the PBF super bantamweight title.

Other scheduled fights includes Naozumi Tsuchiyama (2-1) against William Jorge (2-3) for 6 rounds; Danilo Pena (11-3, 6KOs) against Richard Olisa (8-8-3, 7KOs); Roel Laguna (8-1, 5KOs) against Edgar Gabejan (4-10-1); Ali Cali (1-0) opposite Ronel Ferreras (2-0); and Juan Martin Elorde (4-0, 1KO) against Glen Mondol (0-1).
