Tuesday, October 30, 2007 CCCI wins best chamber award
EFFORTS of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) in developing the economic community of Cebu have earned the chamber the Most Outstanding Chamber in the Philippines award from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
After winning the Most Outstanding Chamber award for three consecutive years, the organization was placed in the Hall of Fame category, besting 110 chambers nationwide, said CCCI president Francis Monera.
President Gloria Arroyo conferred the award to CCCI, represented by Monera and the Board of Trustees Prudencio Gesta, Samson Tiu, Benjamin Avila, Michael Basubas, Ed Limtingco, Clarito Fruelda, Jose Ng and external affairs official representative Felix Taguiam during the end of the three-day Philippine Business Conference held recently.
In an interview, Monera expressed gratitude to individuals and organizations, including the media, for constantly supporting the chamber.
“CCCI bested 110 chambers all over the Philippines. Thanks for all your support,” he said. The Most Outstanding Chamber award is a project of PCCI.
Leadership
It seeks to recognize a local chamber with leadership and dynamism contributing to business growth and development of the community it serves as seen through active involvement in advocacy to provide a suitable environment for the growth and expansion of commerce and industry.
The award is focused on leadership and dynamism, as evidenced by actual accomplishments in the areas of implementation of an advocacy program, partnership with government, growth of membership base, sponsorship of social outreach and community development programs, and trade and investment promotions, according to a statement.
It also measures the delivery of services to its members by an actual range of services being provided, like information services, training programs, workshops, fora, consultancy and advisory services, financial and technical assistance, trade missions and fairs as well as the chamber’s participation in PCCI activities.
Developments
CCCI has been advocating for developments in the areas of information communication technology (ICT), tourism and the small and medium enterprises.
In promoting the chamber’s strategic thrusts—ICT and tourism—it co-hosted the 4th Asean Business and Investment summit last December, which opened doors to global markets in the province.
CCCI also gained the distinction of being the first chamber in the country and the fourth in the world to be ISO 9001:2000 certified. (MMM)
