Tuesday, October 30, 2007 Gabica gets WPC ’07 slot
CEBUANO billiards ace Antonio “Gaga” Gabica got his chance to play in the 2007 World Pool Championship after Matchroom Sports granted him a wild card entry.
Gabica, who joined the Qualifying tournament, was granted a chance to join 12 other Filipino masters in their efforts to keep the WPC title in our shores because of his excellent standing in Asian and Philippine billiard circuits.
The Doha Qatar Asian Games gold medalist and the reigning RP Open Champion was given the privilege in recognition to his masterful quests both here and abroad.
Meanwhile, Lu Hui-Chan of Chinese Taipei and Kenichi Ichigaki of Japan were the first two players who were given the first two spots from the WPC Qualifyign tournament held at the Star Billiards Center last Saturday. (RCM)
