Friday, November 02, 2007 SilkAir receives two awards
INTERNATIONAL readers of US-based travel magazine Conde Nast have rated SilkAir as one of the best in the Annual Readers Choice Awards 2007.
SilkAir took the top spot in the poll’s ‘Foreign Route’ category. The award category, introduced for the first time this year, separates and honors carriers that do not have flights to U.S. destinations.
SilkAir’s parent company, Singapore Airlines, was ranked first in the poll’s “International Route” category for the 19th year, making it a double win for the Singapore Airlines Group and for Singapore’s aviation sector.
“Conde Nast Traveler is a highly-read and respected title for discerning world travellers and it gives us great pride to be ranked highly out of hundreds of airlines worldwide,” said Chin Yau Seng, SilkAir’s chief executive. “The growing international reception tells us that the SilkAir brand has gained good traction beyond the region.”
“We couldn’t be more blessed to have the support from customers both at home in Asia and across the globe,” he added. “Credit, without doubt, goes to our people.
SilkAir would not have come this far without their dedication.”
And proving that there’s nothing quite like home support, Asia Pacific’s travel trade once again voted SilkAir the ‘Best Regional Airline’ in the 18th TTG Asia Travel Awards 2007 held in Bangkok on Oct. 25.
The ‘Best Regional Airline’ award, presented to SilkAir, honors the carrier for operating Asia-Pacific routes with the best service, network and schedules. Readers of TTG Asia, TTG China, TTGMice and TTG-Bt Mice China voted unanimously for SilkAir in this category.
This is the eighth time SilkAir has received this award since the category was first introduced in 1995.
Into its 18th year, the TTG Travel Awards honor outstanding members of Asia-Pacific’s travel industry who have consistently provided the best services, products and facilities and achieved new standards of excellence and professionalism.
