Globe offers cybercafe, autoload business to local entrepreneurs

THE number of Internet users in the Philippines has more than doubled in the last three years, with 6.68 million Filipinos having gone online in 2006 as compared with 2.7 million in 2003, according to research conducted by Digital Filipino and Nielsen Media Research Philippines.

But since the cost of owning a personal computer (PC) is still restrictive for a large segment of the population, not to mention the additional cost of Internet access, many Filipinos turn to Internet cafés to surf the Internet.

The Internet café industry has kept pace with the growing demand for Inter-net access. There are about 12,000 Internet cafés scattered all over the country from 8,500 in 2003 and a mere 1,500 in 2002.

These growing figures have prompted Globe to offer the I-Café Kit, designed to give interested individuals a chance to start their own business and earn extra income.

For an initial cash outlay of less than P150,000, entrepreneurs using the Globe I-Café Kit can start their own Internet café business and provide the latest in technology and applications.

Globe has come up with two models for entrepreneurs to choose from: the Internet surfing and gaming model and the mega gaming model.

The two business-in-a-box models boast of pre-tested I-Café solutions with appropriate PC configuration and Globe Broadband and Globelines bundles. In addition, Globe provides marketing support such as free signage, game posters, and other merchandising materials.

Globe’s I-Café Kit will also give entrepreneurs an additional source of revenue through its Autoload Max. A number of freebies that will help boost an I-Café business are also included in the package.

For the Internet Surfing and Gaming package, the initial cash outlay could go to as low as P121,450 for a one Mbps connection. For the Mega Gaming package, the initial cash outlay could go to as low as P170,750 for a one Mbps connection.

Within 10 to 15 months, entrepreneurs can expect to recoup their investment.

But for entrepreneurs with their own extra space that will be manned by a relative, payback could go as low as six months. (PR)
