CCPO task force to get honors for arrest of ‘big-time’ pusher
FOR arresting an alleged big-time drug pusher, operatives of the Cebu City Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operation Task Force (CAIDSOTF) will be honored with plaques of appreciation by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
DILG Undersecretary Joselito Ruiz will give the commendation during tomorrow’s 8 a.m. regular flag ceremony at the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 in Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr.
Lawyer Clarence Paul Oaminal of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in a Drug Watch program over radio dyLA said the commendation was in relation to the arrest of drug suspect Paulo “Intot” Calunsag last Oct. 17.
Banawa raid
The team, headed by Supt. Pablo Labra II, arrested Calunsag in a raid in his house on J. Fortich St., Sitio Banawa, Barangay Guadalupe in what police considered as the biggest drug haul so far this year.
Nearly P2 million worth of shabu and close to P1 million cash were confiscated from Calunsag during the raid.
Police considered Calunsag a big-time drug pusher because he can dispose of as much as two kilos of shabu a week.
Marissa Tripoli, Calunsag’s househelper, was also arrested after police found her allegedly in the act of repacking the illegal drugs.
Police’s haul
Confiscated during the raid were six big packs of shabu estimated to weigh 50 grams, at least 20 medium packs of shabu believed to weigh about five grams, and several sachets of the illegal drug.
Apart from the assorted packs of shabu, also recovered were a weighing scale, shabu repacking paraphernalia, one .38 revolver and P909,070 cash in different denominations.
Calunsag had denied the allegation and accused the police of planting the shabu.
Last Oct. 24, the Cebu City Council, through a resolution of Councilor Augustus Pe Jr. that was passed during their regular session, also commended the operatives for their accomplishment.
