Wednesday, November 07, 2007 Refreshed at El Viento By Jenara Regis Newman
FINALLY, the pool bar of Marco Polo Plaza Hotel has been named and properly launched as El Viento Restaurant and Pool Bar, a lovely place for shooting the breeze, for watching guests frolicking at the pool, and for getting a lovely view of the surrounding countryside.
The restaurant is open for dinner from 6 p.m. to midnight; and serves Italian, Spanish and Greek cuisine. A special feature of the restaurant is its brick oven fired by mango tree wood. From this oven come the delicious pizzas the restaurant offers. Among its other dishes are risotto, gnocchi, hazel-encrusted salmon and a variety of salads, all perfect for dining out under the stars.
The pool bar is open from ten o’clock in the morning to midnight, and offers delicious snacks and a variety of drinks for those resting from or contemplating a swim as well as for others who may just be there for cups and cups of good coffee with sandwiches or pastries to go with them and friendly camaraderie. Live music is a bonus: from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Caliente plays Latin jazz Mondays and Saturdays, while Three of a Kind dishes out its kind of music Tuesdays to Fridays. On Sundays, Caliente plays from noon to 2 p.m.
The place is sprawling and there’s plenty of space to roam in and be comfortable at—whether at the pool bar, or up the elevated patio above the swimming pool, or down by the garden.
One only has to find one’s perfect spot for a relaxing time, cooled by the breeze of Nivel Hills, alone or with the right company.
