Cabahug seeks unity in Cebu basketball

CEBU’S winningest collegiate coach Elmer “Boy” Cabahug of the University of the Visayas Green Lancers appealed to the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) to stop “dividing” Cebu basketball.

Cabahug said during the launching of the 2007 Visayas Amateur Athletic Association (VAAA) yesterday at the Yayoy’s Grill and Resto Bar that Cesafi should consider the development and exposure of the athletes.

VAAA and Cesafi, despite being stakeholders of the BAP-Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, are still at odds with Cesafi stopping its members from joining the VAAA.

The rivalry even stetched to the booking of the Cebu Coliseum.

On Nov. 18 the Cesafi other events and the VAAA second season will kick off both at the Cebu Coliseum.

However, Cebu Coliseum manager Ben Tulda told Sun.Star Cebu that they were able to make arrangements for the Cesafi to use the venue in the morning until noon, while VAAA takes over at 2 p.m.

“As a member of the BAP-SBP, it is my obligation to contribute and participate in any BAP-SBP undertakings. UV and the Gullases are also supportive to BAP-SBP. I am calling for unity and end this divisiveness because at the end it is our players who benefits it,” Cabahug said. (RCM)
