When you're running low on cash, here's how you can survive
By Eric Galvin Go

WITH the start of another semester, students are again in the thick of things–submission of reports, feasibility studies, thesis and other projects. Budgeting your money for schoolwork, food, malling and other hobbies may be a problem for some, with school projects taking a chunk of your allowance. So 'Zup shares some tips on how to make money during the high months of “ber” (October, November, December). Take advantage of everyone's spending habits as this is usually the time when everyone splurges, when they remember the souls in November and share gifts in December.

Bake and Sell

If cooking and baking is your cup of tea, then this one is for you. People usually buy cakes and other delicacies as Christmas gifts for their friends, relatives and colleagues. So instead of having them buy from expensive bakeshops, why not offer your goodies for them to buy.

Part Time Agent

Ride on with the construction boom and be a part-time sales agent in the construction industry. There are several companies offering part-time sales agent jobs, just get their list of product lines and prices, agree on a commission and start selling those products to hardware owners or to contractors.

Private Tutor

Whether they are kids who want to learn their ABCs or a Korean who wishes to learn English, teaching is a very noble job. Although this requires patience, tutoring can be fun and watching the kids learn can be fulfilling. As your students learn, you also learn to communicate more effectively and work on gaining or improving your patients, which can be helpful to your career and personal development.

Tour Guide

The number of tourists visiting Cebu just gets bigger and bigger. And if given the right contacts, you may start out touring some small groups and help the booming tourism industry. But you have to learn the tricks of the trade. Just be sure you know enough about the history of Cebu, the historical places here and other tourist spots.

Computer Technician

Fixing and assembling computers and other gadgets might just be your key to financial independence. The increasing number of computer stores in Cebu is a clear indication that it is also a booming industry. You don't need to be a graduate of a computer-related course to be good at this. As long as you've gained enough experience tinkering with and fixing PCs, installing software, removing viruses, etc., then you're good to go!
