Soiree Beaujolais Cebu 2007 at Marco Polo Plaza

EACH November, over a million cases of wine begin their journey from little villages and towns in France for immediate shipment to all parts of the world.

It has become a worldwide race to be the first to serve this new wine of the harvest. In doing so, it has been carried by motorcycle, balloon, truck, helicopter, Concorde jet, elephant, runners and rickshaws to get it to its final destination.

By the time it is over, some 65 million bottles, nearly half of the region’s total annual production, will be distributed and drank in one of the most frivolous and animated rituals in the world.

Banners will proclaim the good news: Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé! “The New Beaujolais has arrived!” Beaujolais Nouveau began as a local phenomenon in the local bars, cafes, and bistros of Beaujolais and Lyons in France before making its way to Manila, now celebrating its 13th Soiree.

On Nov. 29, the Marco Polo Plaza proudly welcomes the Beaujolais Nouveau by bringing to Soiree Beaujolais Cebu 2007.

The hotel’s Grand Ballroom will be transformed into the Loire Valley, where guests will enjoy abundant amounts of this red wine made from Gamay grapes produced in the Beaujolais region of France. Entertainment will be provided by Cebu’s very own Renaissance Band, and the master of ceremonies will be no less than Johnny Litton.

Tickets are priced at P2,000 nett per person.
