Parm to stage Move 5K run

THE Philippine Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine (Parm) Visayas Council in celebration of the International Day of Disabled Persons will stage the “Move 5K Run” on Dec. 2. at the Cebu Provincial Capitol Steps together with the launching of the Parm Visayas Advocacy on Exercise and the Welfare of Persons With Disabilities (PWD’s).

Parm Visayas, established in 1974, is composed of medical doctors and physiatrists that specialize and are trained in physical and rehabilitation medicine, has initiated an Advocacy on Exercise and the Welfare for the Disabled dubbed E- Making Ourselves Vigilant to Exercise or Move.

Move combines exercise awareness for the community and a fund raising activity for PWD’s. It aims to raise the awareness of the community on the value of exercise and also on the plight of the differently-abled persons.

Parm Visayas, headed by Cebuano Dr. Renald Peter Ramiro, invited all Cebuanos to help their program during the weekly Scoop forum at Baseline Restaurant yesterday.

Race director Raffy Uytiepo said during the forum that they are limiting the participants since they are looking for the quality of the event and are expecting about 300 to 500 to join the race.

Uytiepo said the race is divided into three categories; the open, wheelchair, and the amputee category and the winners will get cash prizes and medals.

In the open category, the first placer will receive P3, 000, while the second and third placers will get P2,000 and P1, 000, respectively.

The rest of the top 10 will get P300.

The first placers of the wheelchair and the amputee categories will receive P1, 500; P1, 000 and P500 for the 2nd and 3dr placers. (NSM)
