THE MP Warriors-GenSan readily dropped bombs when it mattered most as they defeated the visiting Duterte Agilas-Davao following a 90-84 victory to clinch the automatic championship berth in the Mindanao Division best-of-three finals of the 2007 MVBA Second Conference.
The Warriors, playing for the first time at the South Cotabato Gym and Cultural Center in Koronadal City, scored a repeat over the Agilas as they now moved five games above the second running Holcim Pryce Pharma-Misamis Oriental and eight games ahead of the Agilas, with its 5-4 slate and with still a game to left.
The team, owned by boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao, was in control of the game’s momentum as they posted its biggest lead at 59-47 midway to the third.
But the Agilas staged a mighty run that put them back into the contest.But that was the best the visiting team could offer as the Warriors held their ground and held the Agilas without a failed goal for three minutes. (RCM)
