Nursing aide found dead inside house
A 30-year-old man was found dead with more than 10 stab wounds inside his house along Natalio Bacalso Ave. in Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City Friday afternoon.
Homicide Section investigators, led by SPO4 Alex Dacua, identified the wounded as Raul Loy C. Vargas, who worked as a nursing aide at the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital.
Police identified two suspects in the stabbing, one of whom was identified as the victim’s former lover. The 18-year-old woman and a companion were reportedly the last persons seen with Vargas before his death.
Motive
Dacua said a grudge could be the motive for the killing, although investigators are not ruling out robbery.
Vargas’ body, which was sprawled on the floor under his bed, was found by his cousin Melbourn Nuñez, who lives adjacent to the victim’s house.
Dacua’s team learned from Nuñez that at 11 p.m. last Thursday, Vargas arrived home from work and told his cousin he was in a hurry because his former girlfriend would visit him.
Nuñez said that at around 11:45 p.m., he saw the woman and her companion buying two bottles of beer at a nearby store.
The following day at 5:30 p.m., Nuñez wondered why he had not seen Vargas leaving the house. He went inside Vargas’ house to check.
Blood
Inside, Nuñez saw blood at the living room, comfort room and bedroom, where he found the body.
Dacua’s team and personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operations (Soco) led by Chief Insp. Roderick Fausal recovered a scissor blade, a broken stainless knife, a wooden handle of a broken knife, white pair of cargo short pants with camouflage belt, a pair of black slippers, a black bull cup, two pairs of black and red slippers, soup bowls, a pack of cigarette, an empty wrapper of junk food, a unit mini-DVD player with remote control, an empty glass, an empty plastic bottle, a white towel, and two white T-shirts.
All the items were stained with blood.
Dacua’s team went to Rodriguez’s house in Sitio Bohol Village in Duljo-Fatima but his parents told the policemen the woman hadn’t come home since last Wednesday, Nov. 14. (JST)
