Tuesday, November 20, 2007 Police identifies suspect
THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is investigating a 21-year-old man from Guihulngan, Oriental Negros for his possible involvement in the robbery of a Korean national last Saturday night.
CCPO Director Patroci-nio Comendador said the physical features of Eric Z. Campasas showed similarities to a victim’s descriptions of one of the robbers who victimized No Hyung Tae, 26, at 6:10 p.m. in Barangay Cam-puthaw Saturday.
Tae is from Busan, South Korea and is a student of JIC Tutorial Language Corp. at Trinity Plaza Tower, Gonzales Compound in Barangay Camputhaw.
He was shot by one of the robbers who was armed with .38 revolver when he tried to fight back. The robbers took his Motorola V3 cellular phone worth P7,000.
He was taken to Perpetual Succour Hospital for a gunshot wound in the thigh.
Revolver
Campasas, of Sitio Malabitoon in Barangay Mabunga, Guihulngan was arrested in possession of an unlicensed Smith and Wesson .357 revolver loaded with five bullets during a saturation drive at 11:30 p.m. of the same day inside a downtown videoke bar.
A .38 caliber empty shell was also recovered from Campasas’ firearm, Comendador said.
Empty shell
Comendador said he directed the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau (CIIB) to submit the empty shell for ballistics examinations for comparison with the slug recovered at the crime scene.
He said Senior Insp. Michael Bastes, Theft and Robbery Section chief, has been tasked to coordinate with Tae for cartographic sketches of the two robbers.
