Friday, November 23, 2007 Adults, kids get dental, medical services for free
AROUND 1,500 patients availed themselves of the free health services during the medical-dental mission organized by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (Rafi) recently.
Rafi, in celebration of its 41st Founder’s Day, held the mission for patients from Barangays Parian, Day-as, Tinago, T. Padilla and Tejero in Cebu City.
Some 160 volunteer doctors, students, and medical personnel from Cebu Doctor’s University, Perpetual Succour Hospital, Philippine Pediatric Society of Cebu-Eastern Visayas Chapter, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Cebu City Medical Center, Philippine Academy of Family Physicians Cebu Chapter, Cebu Dental Society, Southwestern University College of Dentistry, Cebu City Health Office, University of Cebu, University of Southern Philippines, Philippine Paramedical and Technical School, Timawa Adventure Leadership Inc. and other volunteers joined the medical-dental mission.
They performed general consultation, dental services, laboratory examination, Pap smear and breast screening.
The pediatric service had the most number of patients, with 699 children undergoing consultation.
The foundation has been organizing the mission to provide indigent patients with free health services.
