Friday, November 23, 2007 PLDT myDSL Speed Circuit drifts across Cebu
ROARING engines, screeching tires, billowing smoke and the smell of burnt rubber had throngs of motoring fans, shoppers and onlookers all revved up as high velocity PLDT myDSL treated Cebuanos to their first taste of drifting.
The PLDT myDSL Speed Circuit Drifting Exhibition held at the SM City Cebu parking lot last Nov. 10, 2007 was the first ever drifting event held in the Queen City of the South.
The Philippines’ leading broadband service brought in the coolest cars, the hottest babes and dynamite drifters to cap the PLDT myDSL Speed Circuit Tour, a four-week blitz across the metro fueled by PLDT myDSL Quick Install Kit (QIK), the country’s first ever do-it-yourself broadband Internet connection in as fast as three days.
PLDT myDSL Speed Circuit also featured a campus and radio tour, car stick-on events at various gas stations and a car exhibit at SM City Cebu.
“PLDT is very pleased to bring myDSL QIK, the first of its kind in the country, to Cebu as well as introduce drifting, Asia’s newest motoring craze to Cebuanos.
They are both excellent examples of speed, technology and performance.
Internet users who like to live on the fast lane will surely appreciate the rush and excitement of drifting,” said Gary Dujali, PLDT assistant vice president of Retail Data Acquisition.
Catch ‘myDSL’ drift
Jumpstarting Speed Circuit’s initial drift is the PLDT myDSL Crew led by actress and sultry FHM babe Nancy Castiglione.
Under the beating Visayan sun, Nancy formally opened the festivities in the middle of the massive parking lot together with Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes who eagerly witnessed the high octane event. On stage, fellow PLDT myDSL Crew members MC Kimosave and hot shot rapper DJ Pikaso kept the tight beats and slick lines flowing all afternoon while the local drift kings went to work, pushing their cars to the limit for four supercharged hours.
PLDT myDSL Speed Circuit, in partnership with Killer Bee FM, flew in the best names in drifting to thrill the Cebuano crowd.
DMF Burnt Rubber Productions featuring drift pioneer David M. Feliciano, Lateral D Championship back-to-back winner Alex Perez and marketing director Charlie Cruz showed off their skills on the pavement by making their cars slide, sway, spin, and careen sideways at approximately 80 to 100 kph.
Some lucky onlookers even got the ride of their life as David and Alex took them for an exhilarating spin.
While taking a break from the midday sun, the crowd milled around the Speed Circuit Car Show where the PLDT myDSL Superbabes presented the hottest rides in Metro Cebu. On display were souped up BMWs, Pajeros, RX7s, Lancers, and PLDT myDSL’s signature Mazda Miata and Mitsubishi Eclipse.
