Sunday, November 25, 2007 Paquiao: Good eating By Calixto S. Paquiao Fitness and You
ANYONE who wants to lose weight is on diet.
But the problem is that many times our diet does not coincide with our goals.
If you want to lose fat, you must adjust your diet accordingly.
Ordinarily this will not mean drastic changes, only sensible adjustments. A lot of weight-conscious people are dieting. Diet and diet aids are big business. In a single year, a lot of people who want to look good and healthy spend thousands of pesos on diet aids.
I am not criticizing the impulse behind dieting but there is a better, healthier way to trim inches off your waist, thighs, buttocks or any other part of your body. Fad diets, crash weights-loss programs, and chemical dietary aids fail to work because they are not compatible with good health.
To do it right, you must change your eating habits. This refers to the way you eat, how much you eat, and what you eat. When you find the diet that best for you, stick with it.
I cannot promise that you will lose 20 pounds in 20 days. Instead, the losses you will experience through exercise and a sensible diet will be gradual, natural, easy for your system to accept and effortless for you to maintain.
Look at this way: your excess fat has accumulated over a long period. You tolerated it for that length of time, so why are you in such in a hurry to get rid of it? You have plenty of time to lose it especially when you consider that this loss is going to be permanent. In a really successful diet, there are no magical formulas. Substituting good eating habits for the poor ones that took a lifetime to acquire is the biggest battle.
The basic principle in slimming down your body to the size you want is to eat fewer calories than you burn. Therefore, it stands to reason that if you do not increase your present calorie intake and add two and a half to three hours of vigorous exercise to your regimen of weekly activity, you will begin to lose both inches and pounds. This can be accelerated by reducing the number of calories you take in.
I always tell my clients about proper diet; that they should not eliminate any essential nutrient. Everybody, even the obese, needs a balance of proteins, carbohydrates and fats plus all the vitamins and minerals. We know a lot of our diet contains far too much fat, far too many empty calories from carbohydrates.
This does not mean you should cut out fats and carbohydrates completely.
But you can reduce the amount of fat and select carbohydrates of a better quality. For most of you, the solution is to substitute fish and chicken to red meat; to use fat-free or low-fat dairy products; to eat plenty of fresh vegetables (raw when possible), and to cut out deserts and other foods made with sugar and to eating fresh fruit in their place.
Eating these foods will enable you to lose weight gradually and keep it off forever. Try these and you will see a great change of your body in a period of four to 12 weeks.
