Dilaab gathers volunteers in thanksgiving
A CHURCH-based organization has its volunteers to thank for its mission of helping transform society.
“Dilaab is at the forefront of the bold new frontier of faith-impelled social transformation guided by the principles that we are all in this together as part of the problem and of the solution, and that prevention is better than cure,” said Dilaab overall coordinator Fr. Carmelo Diola.
Over the weekend, Dilaab held its thanksgiving and covenant-making, together with volunteers, partners, and representatives from the PNP and the Presidential Anti-Graft Commission.
“Seven years ago, a group of friends initiated a proactive outreach work for overseas foreign workers (OFWs) and their families. Little did they know that the seed they had planted was to be the beginning of Dilaab, which means conflagration or tongues of fire,” Diola wrote in his article in Dilaab’s quarterly publication.
Partners
He was referring to three Dilaab volunteers and partners: PNP Gen. Samson Tucay, who started the PNP Values and Leadership School; Selene Yu, who goes around the country giving leadership seminars; and lawyer Alexan-der Lacson, who published the book “Twelve Little Things Every Filipino Can Do to Help Our Country.”
“This trio of services enables a Christian presence in proactive outreach work to OFWs and their families, in the fight against narco-politics, and in promoting a graft and corruption-intolerant Philippines,” he said.
Encounter
“Our encounter with people aglow with divine hope and a growing network of inspiring partners show that the quest for a transformed nation is no idle dream with God’s help. The event shared Dilaab’s defining moments and initiatives to affirm volunteers and partners and invite new one,” he further said. (NRC)
