Monday, November 26, 2007 PB members to join national gathering
CAPITOL legislators are skipping their regular session for the 16th national convention of the Provincial Board (PB) Members League of the Philippines (PBMLP).
Themed “PB Members, United for a Strong Republic,” the three-day convention opens today at the Century Park Hotel in Manila.
President Arroyo is the guest of honor and will deliver a keynote address tomorrow.
Today is acquaintance day and includes the display of regional banners, presentation of delegates, and dinner with former senator Loren Legarda.
Cebu 6th district PB Member Victor Maambong, PBMLP vice-president for the Visayas, will introduce the region’s delegation.
Tomorrow, Sen. Edgar-do Angara will deliver a message prior to the President’s keynote speech.
Officers
National president Vincent Piccio III will call a plenary session in the afternoon for the election of a new set of officers.
Winners are immediately proclaimed, with the day ending in a fellowship dinner.
The convention’s guests include Sen. Miguel Zubiri and Department of Interior and Local Government Sec. Ronaldo Puno.
Discussion
Another plenary session on the last day will be spent discussing the PBMLP constitution and by-law amendments.
PB Member Wenceslao Gakit said that only PB Members Judy Durano of the fifth district and Sangguniang Kabataan provincial president Martin Calderon did not confirm their attendance.
