Friday, November 30, 2007 ‘Love triangle’ eyed in nursing grad’s death
A MAN who had just attended a barangay hearing was shot on Tres de Abril St. in Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City yesterday afternoon. He succumbed to gunshot wounds in his back at 4:30 p.m.
John Sherwin Sun, 34, had been accused of having an affair with a married woman and the woman’s husband had complained before the Punta Princesa Barangay Hall.
They were having a hearing on the case but the woman failed to show up.
John, who was accompanied by his brother Stephen and mother Virginia, left the barangay hall in a grey Toyota Corolla.
They were on their way home to Garfield St., Barangay Pasil with Stephen at the wheel, Virginia in the front seat and John at the back.
When they reached the area behind the Salazar Institute of Technology at 3:10 p.m., two men on a red Honda XRM motorcycle drove behind them.
Suddenly, one of the men fired at the car, hitting John in the back.
He was rushed to the Chong Hua Hospital and was already in a critical condition. He expired at 4:30 p.m.
Stephen and Virginia were spared.
Investigators of the Cebu City Homicide Section will be inviting the woman’s husband for questioning, as they are looking into the love triangle as a motive for the killing.
When the Suns left the barangay hall, the woman’s husband was reportedly still in the barangay hall.
John was reviewing for the nursing licensure examinations. (MEA)
